{"id":5643,"date":"2024-02-16T08:39:39","date_gmt":"2024-02-16T07:39:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ptc.cz\/what-we-treat\/lymfomy\/leukemicke-postizeni-cns\/"},"modified":"2024-06-27T10:15:34","modified_gmt":"2024-06-27T08:15:34","slug":"cns-involvement-in-leukemia","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ptc.cz\/en\/what-we-treat\/lymphomas\/cns-involvement-in-leukemia\/","title":{"rendered":"Leukemic CNS involvement"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"gdc_row\">\n<div class=\"gdc_column gdc_chalf\">\n<div class=\"gdc_inner\">\n<h4>Leukemic involvement of the central nervous system is among the newest diagnoses for proton therapy.<\/h4>\n<p>Irradiation of the craniospinal axis is beneficial for patients who, despite intensive systemic treatment, have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>positive finding of leukemic cells in the cerebrospinal fluid,<\/li>\n<li>as well as for those who had a&nbsp;positive cerebrospinal fluid already at the diagnosis and who are at risk for central nervous system involvement in the future.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"gdc_column gdc_chalf\">\n<div class=\"gdc_inner\">\n<p>The objective is to get rid of leukemic cells in these hard-to-access areas, including those that are not sensitive to chemotherapy or biological treatment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In such case, proton radiotherapy has substantial benefits when compared with other forms of radiotherapy.
